Austrian police have seized around 20 kilograms of cocaine at Vienna airport worth two million euros, police announced.Three Austrians were arrested in the January 17 operation and four more suspects arrested for involvement in running drugs from the Dominican Republic.The cocaine was hidden in bottles and metal boxes.
Since 2006 drug mules have been paid up to 5,000 euros to smuggle cocaine worth millions of euros into Austria, police say.Police estimate that nearly 90 kilograms of cocaine have been smuggled in by the network since 2006, with a street value of around nine million euros (13.7 million dollars). The drug was then smuggled to the Netherlands by car.Police have also opened an investigation against eight more suspects.
