The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Monday seized five tonnes of hashish and three maunds of heroin, and arrested two ‘high value’ drug traffickers near Kohat.
The ANF said in a press release issued here that it had acted on a tip-off that an inter-provincial and international smuggling gang would try to smuggle huge quantities of narcotics from the Tribal Areas to Quetta. The ANF searched a Nissan truck near the old toll plaza on the Indus Highway in Kohat and found 5 tonnes of hashish and 3 maunds of heroin. Two ‘high-value’ drug traffickers were arrested on the spot, the ANF statement said.
During initial investigations, officials said the suspects had disclosed that they were taking the drugs to Quetta, to be smuggled abroad. In a second operation, the ANF said it seized 2 mounds of hashish from a Bedford truck near the Charsadda-Nisata interchange on Charsadda Road and arrested two drug traffickers.
