Laurencin, 19, and Alimahad A. Isa, 21, both of Hartford.Laurencin remains held on $150,000 bond on charges of possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to sell, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.Isa remains held on $25,000 bond on charges of conspiracy to possess heroin, conspiracy to sell heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.Two young men were arrested Tuesday night at the University of Connecticut after state police undercover detectives interrupted a drug transaction in a campus parking lot and seized 200 bags of heroin, state police said.The arrests occurred shortly after 8 p.m. during the undercover operation by the statewide narcotics task force and UConn police.Stephen H. Laurencin, 19, of 123 Clark St., Hartford was charged with possession of heroin and possession with intent to sell heroin , police said. He was being held on $150,000 bond.Alimahad A. Isa, 21, of 83 Mayflower St., West Hartford, was charged with conspiracy to possess heroin, and conspiracy to sell heroin, state police said. He was being held on $25,000 bond. Both men were also charged with possession of marijana and drug paraphernalia.Laurencin and Isa were arraigned today in Superior Court in Rockville. Laurencin's bond was raised to $200,000 while Isa's remained at $25,000.
State and UConn police conducted the investigation after learning that the suspects were bringing heroin from Hartford to distribute on the UConn campus, police said.
Also seized was 1.7 grams of marijuana and a scale. The estimated street value of the drugs is about $3,000, police said.
The suspects are students at the university.
