Charles Thompson, 40, of Modesto was sentenced to five years in prison after his conviction for possession of cocaine

Charles Thompson, 40, of Modesto was sentenced to five years in prison after his conviction for possession of cocaine, the Stanislaus County district attorney's office said. He was pulled over on McHenry Avenue on March 6, 2008, and was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He also was found to be in possession of cocaine. Thompson pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol before the start of the trial. He had two prior serious felony convictions. The sentence was handed down Tuesday.
