Bradley Edward Webber was charged Thursday in Lake Superior Court with theft and possession of cocaine.
Court documents state that Webber had been seen inside Gander Mountain, west of Westfield Southlake mall, and was leaving the store when he activated the anti-theft sensor alarms.
The suspect, when approached by Hobart officer Mike Webber, admitted he had stolen two pellet guns and some pellets from the store which he had placed inside the trunk of his car.
Webber then gave the officer permission to open his trunk and that’s when the guns and a bag containing 3 grams of cocaine were discovered, court documents state.
He told police he had driven the car, which is owned by his girlfriend’s father, to Chicago and had met with two men there while all used heroin and Xanax.
Webber further stated that one of the two men had driven the car back to Indiana and asked him to steal air guns and pellets from Gander Mountain.
He was booked into the jail on felony drug charges.
