Mark P. McNew charged with lying to police and cleaning out evidence of drug use at his home after the death

Mark P. McNew, 42, who has several previous convictions on his record, was charged for lying to police and cleaning out evidence of drug use at his home after the death on Oct. 27, 2007, of Cheryl Fosdal, 37, also of Stoughton.
Toxicology tests show Fosdal, found dead in McNew's home, died of a heroin poisoning. According to the criminal complaint McNew lied to Stoughton police detectives by telling them that he and Fosdal had used no drugs on the night she died, but later told a girlfriend that he, Fosdal, and Randy Severin had used cocaine and heroin. After toxicology tests showed Fosdal died of heroin use, both McNew and Severin admitted they used heroin the night Fosdal died, and said they "freaked out" the next morning when Fosdal was found dead and cleaned out the residence to get rid of any drugs or drug paraphernalia.
