Police department in the southeastern Turkish province of Hakkari has confiscated 167 kg of heroin during an operation in the region.
The department said on Wednesday that Turkish policemen stopped a truck in the Yuksekova town of Hakkari Province where they found the drugs hidden in a secret place under the truck.
The department added that nine suspected smugglers were arrested during the operation.
Last week Turkish police confiscated more than 300 kg of heroin and hashish, detaining 34 suspects.
Turkey is a key transit route for smuggling drugs from Asia and the Middle East to markets in Western Europe.
