Arturo Sanchez, and he was arrested for bootlegging. When they got him down to the jail, he was found to have over two grams of powder cocaine in his possession.”
Sanchez, 57, was found to be in the United States illegally, and an immigration hold was placed on him. His bonds were set at $15,000 for possession of a controlled substance and $2,500 for bootlegging.
Officers were later dispatched to the East Texas Medical Center regarding a gunshot wound — which was determined to have occurred at the Button Bush location.
“There appears to have been a verbal argument at the residence between two Hispanic males in reference to one of them owing the other money. One of the suspects went outside, grabbed a rifle and came back with it into the residence,” Franklin said. “A struggle ensued over the rifle and it went off, accidentally shooting somebody in the hand.”
According to Franklin, the victim and the other residents in the building were very uncooperative.
